Welcome to the Homepage of the Climate Laboratory
My name is Christian Franzke and I am a scientist with a broad interest in climate science. Currently my research focuses on understanding climate variability across scales, climate change, extreme weather and climate events, weather and climate risks, and the economics of climate change. I am also teaching on those topics. In particular, I developed a new and unique (I think) class on Weather and Climate Risks. In this class I combine the physical with the socio-economic aspects of weather extremes and climate change. I am also a PI of TRR 181 in which we aim to develop better climate models by improving their representation of conserved quantities and subgrid-scale processes.
